When I hear people talk about what they do when they go to their gym the conversation goes something like this “I walk on the treadmill and sometimes if I feel like it I’ll use the machines”.
As a fitness professional I’m happy and encouraged when I hear that people are actually exercising. Most adults don’t. Why? I think its because a lot of adults don’t know what to do. How long to do it? OR in what order they should do certain exercises based on their goals. Do I have to have a goal? Not necessarily.
If your ever at a loss on what to do just do the basics. The basics have worked for years and will continue to work. It doesn’t have to be super long or intense all the time.
Basic movement patterns: push, pull, hip-hinge, squat, and plank.
All are important but the squat is especially challenging for some. Sometimes its knee problems. Often times its simply mechanics.
